It's Pumpkin Season!

When you think of pumpkins, images of selecting that perfectly shaped fruit at your favorite pumpkin patch may come to mind. Perhaps you imagine making a delicious pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving.

You probably never think of pumpkins and book reports! But Mrs. DeVore and her 2nd grade language arts students think they go quite well together.. They had the chance to create beautifully decorated pumpkins that represented characters in their chosen books, and then presented their reports to the class.

But who would ever think that pumpkins can also be used to teach math? If you answered, "Mrs. Shick," you would be correct! Mrs. Shick's 3rd grade math students honed their skills by measuring a pumpkin's circumference and weight. They also estimated and counted its seeds!

Congratulations to the 2nd and 3rd grade pumpkin aficionados and thanks, of course, to their dedicated and creative teachers. Happy Fall to All!!!!!
