Through the Looking Glass—Alpha Recognizes Service and Philanthropy at Its Annual Gala

Thanks to everyone who attended this year's Through the Looking Glass gala. A special thank you to Co-Chairpersons Carissa Traill and Anita King and the entire gala committee for organizing such a spectacular event. It was a beautiful, love-filled, celebratory evening as our Alpha community gathered at its annual fundraising gala to enjoy each other's company and honor two families who have given so much to our school.

The Legacy of Grace in Service Award, which acknowledges an individual or family who has shown exceptional service to the school, was posthumously awarded to Lynn Farina. Lynn taught at Alpha for 13 years and brought creativity and professionalism to the classroom, giving her students a strong foundation and a love of school and learning. Principal Peggy Ruefle honored Lynn in a moving speech, and Lynn's husband, Chuck, accepted the award.

The Legacy of Grace in Philanthropy Award, which recognizes a local organization or business owner's impact they have on the Alpha community, was presented to Abdullah and Liza Salem, owners and operators of Salem's Market and Grill. When the pandemic hit and the school's food service provider was no longer able to provide lunches for the students, Salem's Market and Grill immediately offered to help by providing hot, ready-to-serve lunches at or below cost.
